SafeW taking up too much disk space? Clean up safely in this order
Is SafeW using more and more disk space? It is usually cache, logs and downloads piling up. This guide shows you how to slim it down safely without deleting your chat data.
If SafeW seems to take up more and more disk space, don't panic. Most of the time it's not your chat data growing, but cache, logs and downloaded files quietly piling up. Follow the steps below to clean up safely.
First, find out what's taking space
Open SafeW's install folder and sort by "date modified" and "size". You'll usually see three kinds of large items: cache, logs, and files you downloaded. The first two can usually be deleted directly; the third needs your manual review.
Back up before you clean
Before touching anything, back up your settings and chat history in "Settings > Data & Storage". Keep the backup on another drive so you can restore if something goes wrong.
Step 1: Clear the cache
Cache is temporary runtime data. Deleting it doesn't affect your chat history — images and stickers just reload next time you open them. Empty the cache folder directly.
Step 2: Clear old logs
Logs record how the app runs. They're useful for troubleshooting but keep piling up. Delete log files older than 30 days to free up space.
Step 3: Review downloaded files
Images, videos and documents you received through SafeW are stored in the download folder by default. These are your real data — check each one before deleting. Move anything important to cloud or an external drive first.
Step 4: Make it a habit
Repeat this cleanup every 1-2 months. After cleaning, restart SafeW and send a few messages to confirm everything still works.
