SafeW Linux install guide for major distros
SafeW for Linux supports Debian/Ubuntu, CentOS and other major distros. This guide covers downloading, dependencies, launching and troubleshooting.
SafeW also supports Linux, useful for servers and dev environments. Here's the Linux install flow.
Step 1: Download the right package
Go to the download page, choose Linux, and download the package for your distro (Debian/Ubuntu use .deb, CentOS/RedHat use .rpm, or a generic tar.xz).
Step 2: Install dependencies
Some distros need base dependencies first. On Ubuntu, for example, run a system update to make sure base libraries are in place before installing the package.
Step 3: Install
A .deb can be double-clicked in the software center or installed with the package manager in a terminal. A tar.xz extracts to a directory, then you run its start script.
Step 4: Launch and log in
Start SafeW and log in with phone or email. The Linux version also supports multi-device sync, keeping messages consistent with other devices.
Common issues
If startup reports missing libraries, install the corresponding dependencies first. If the GUI won't open, confirm your desktop environment is fine. For enterprise use, consider SafeW's private deployment option.
